The only way is Ivory FC. Nivea’s Great Football Experiment
Everyone who knows of the Great Football Experiment should give it up for Ivory, F.C. When you think about a team that truly give its all to a cause, Ivory has to be up there. They received one of the most interesting opportunities that a team has every received. Truly, their experience was unique and that is a credit to Nivea for putting on the entire thing. Ivory not only won the big game, but they got better as a team and ultimately transformed themselves from an average bunch of Sunday League players to a real group of highly skilled footballers.
So what do we know about Ivory, F.C.? Fortunately, we don’t know a lot. We know that they came from Essex and that the odds of them beating a team of English football legends were very small at the beginning of the Great Football Experiment. We know that they were a bunch of Sunday League players without much formal training, especially on a world-class scale. Likewise, we know that this bunch rose up against the odds and won despite the challenges. They took down the great beast.
This is an underdog story that is worth repeating. Nivea provided Ivory, F.C. with the coaching staff necessary to truly compete. With Wilkins and Venables leading the charge, Ivory were able to make great strides over the few weeks that they trained. Ivory ended up becoming a real powerhouse of a team. Take them and drop them back in the Sunday League and they would almost certainly dominate the competition. When they went up against the English football legends at the end of the experiment period, they took down those legends by a two to one tally.
Nivea was partially responsible for the success of the Ivory team and for the success of the experiment as a whole. This truly was Nivea’s Great Football Experiment in the sense that the company took ownership over the entire process. They gave Ivory every last thing that it possibly could have needed in order to succeed. At the end of the day, Ivory were able to overcome the odds and make good on the experiment.
